Welcome to this casually elegant, impeccably maintained and very private 3,500-square-foot California Mediterranean house set on a third of an acre in the prestigious Oakmont Estates section of guard-gated Mission Hills Country Club. This stunning home features an interior created by a top Los Angeles interior designer and is surrounded by lush, mature landscaping.
Outside: The gated front courtyard is a tranquil oasis featuring a sitting area adjacent to a gently overflowing water feature surrounded by banana palms and bougainvillea, while the graveled sideyard is dotted with grapefruit, lemon and orange trees. The backyard has two covered patios alongside the house (one with a sitting area, the other with a built-in stainless-steel gas BBQ), wrought-iron chaise lounge chairs, four jetted fountains spilling into the large adjacent swimming pool, an elevated spa that accommodates six and decorative oversized pottery. The entire backyard is surrounded by a mature, 11-foot ficus hedge while lantana flowers, chaise lounge cushions and a patio umbrella all in sunburst yellow add a splash of color.
Inside: The art-filled main house features custom-painted walls and ceilings in the public rooms, and sleeps up to six in three bedrooms. The luxurious master suite with a king bed and an enormous walk-in closet overlooks the pool and a rose garden, and the spacious master bath has a walk-in shower enclosed by glass blocks, two sink areas plus a make-up station and a deep Jacuzzi tub. One guest bedroom has a queen bed and a view of the courtyard while the other has a queen bed and a sideyard view, each with an en suite bathroom. The detached casita welcomes guests with powder-blue painted walls and bamboo wallpaper on the ceiling, plus a full bath and a day bed (2 twins) that sleeps two.
The well-equipped, eat-in chef's kitchen has a large center island, stainless-steel appliances and range hood, six-burner gas stove, built-in microwave oven, a large walk-in pantry, rich wood cabinetry and granite countertops. Through the butler’s pantry lined with glass-fronted cabinets is the oversized dining room, with 18-foot ceilings, a custom-built dining table of rough-hewn wood and sturdy wooden chairs with leather seats, a gas fireplace, flowing silk curtains that puddle on the floor, a wall of French doors that open to a patio and Arte de Mexico chandelier and sconces. The living room has multiple conversation areas with two sofas and lots of throw pillows, a gas fireplace and a wet bar (also open to the dining room), and overlooks the pool and backyard gardens. There are custom window treatments throughout the house, and a built-in sound system inside and out.
Dogs typically are welcome with advance approval, but no cats, please.
