"Waimea Honu Hale". Honu is Hawaiian for turtle, and Hale is Hawaiian for home. Waimea Honu Hale is a magical home nestled in the lush green of the Waimea hills. You'll love the natural outdoors, complemented by the classy interior finishes like the custom walk-in showers, black leather granite counters, or the natural wood floors and Koa rails. This cute haven away from the Hussle of life may have you calling Waimea home. You'll want to stay forever.
The space
The Honu Hale offers two full bedrooms. The main bedroom comes with a custom bathroom, and a separate loft with a full guest bathroom. The kitchen with granite counters is surrounded by a TV room, dining area, and breakfast nook. The family room has a Hawaiian pune'e (daybed), lazy rocking chairs, and a petite wood stove. The outdoor deck has a 3 burner BBQ, table and chairs, a gas burning fire pit, and an outdoor shower. the washer and dryer and the misc. beach chairs and toys are located in the detached garage.
The Hale is for 4
+ people at the regular rate. There is an Additional Rate for a fifth person at $10 per night and a sixth person at $15 per night. Please contact us, and we will send you the additional rates.
The Waimea area is at about 2600 ft elevation. The Honu Hale can be warm in the days and nippy at night. There are lots of blankets, a couple of space heaters, and a wood stove to stay warm and cozy at night. During the day or warm nights, there are lots of ceiling fans, and windows with screens to let in the cool breeze.
We provide 1 car parking in the garage, along with off-street free parking, ensuring your vehicle's safety and convenience. When accessing the garage, please note, the drive is downhill. We recommend exercising patience and caution for a smooth and safe experience.

Guest access
Guests of the Honu Hale have exclusive use of the main house, which is not connected to the studio. They also have exclusive access to the deck, BBQ, fire pit, surrounding garden and nature walks, courtyard and outdoor shower, garage, and washer/dryer. The entire main house and its surroundings are exclusively yours as our guests.
The detached studio, however, is a separate rental. This unit along with the adjacent parking at the bottom of the driveway, is for the Studio Rental.
Other things to note
WOOD BURNING STOVE: The wood burning stove is a great amenity. Our family loves the stove feature. However, woodburning stoves create an immense amount of heat and are extremely dangerous of used improperly. These are the house rules when using the stove. They must be read in their entirety before using the stove and guests MUST text the owner the following before the stove is unlocked and made available.

1) When starting the stove fire, instructions will be followed closely.
2) The wood stove is never to be used by children, and children will be kept a safe distance away from the stove
3) The wood stove will be kept closed at all times other than when starting fire.
4) The wood burning stove is for heat only and may not be used for cooking or heating of food or water at any time.
5) The wood burning stove may only be used with host provided wood. There is a special wood fee of $50. We use an island favorite "Keawe" mesquite fire wood cut at 10" or shorter lengths for the petite stove. Additional bundles are charged at $50/bundle.
